All Smushed Together

Memphis in the summer is a pretty miserable place to be. Today we actually went past the “heat advisory” into an extreme heat warning...the radio announcer actually said that no one should be outside under any circumstances. And no wonder...it's suffocating out there. The GOOD news is that our pool is finally ready---YAYYYYYY!!! As soon as Mom gets home, I am submerging myself in the cool clean water and not coming out until I'm being chased by mosquitoes. I have to wait until Mom gets home—house rules. You can't swim alone if no else is home.

I had lunch with Cara today at Cracker Barrel. They said it was so cold today they were chilling the glasses before they put our beverages in them...how considerate. After we caught up (Cara makes me incredibly happy), we went to Plato's Closet. And I'd never been there, but I definitely get why everyone loves it. I didn't know they had ALL kinds of stuff: clothes for guys and girls, shoes, purses, sunglasses, jewelry, books, and DVDs. Coolness.

Let me tell you about last weekend. I saw a movie and had dinner with a couple of girlfriends. We saw “17 Again” at the Bartlett Cinema ($2.50 per movie ticket: can I get an amen?), and I was pretty impressed. Confession: I'm not a drooling-over-the-apparent-hotness-that-is-Zac-Efron fan. And I might be the only female that feels that way. I will say that he's a pretty good actor. And that movie was hilarious...witty one liners are my thing, and those writers were writing straight to my heart. After the movie, we went and had dinner at The Dixie Cafe. I'd always wanted to eat there. It was soooo good and so cheap. I ordered the combo meal with the lighter entree portion. I got PLENTY of fried chicken and gravy, mashed potatoes and gravy, macaroni and cheese, a big glass of water, and all the homemade rolls and jalapeno cornbread with butter that I wanted for about $8.50, including tax. Not bad, hm?

Afterwards, Sarah Beth headed home, but Kacy and I decided that 8:00 was too early to call it quits on a Friday night. At first, we thought we'd go to Wal Mart, but THEN...we passed a psychic. We decided to be spontaneous. We went to IHOP and ordered dessert and poured through their phone book. We found a psychic who was willing to see us that late out on Summer and Highland. For the record, I'm pretty much a skeptic...but she was right on about a LOT of things that have already happened. In a nutshell, she says I'll be employed by mid-July. I'll live past my seventies. She sees two children. I won't be settling down with my “soulmate” until I am between the ages of 31 and 34 and I have a lot of heartache to endure between now and then. Ok, ok. We shall see.

The boy called again. Still a little weird. Not sure what's going on, even though he insists he's the most uncomplicated person on the planet. I beg to differ.

I'll keep you posted --

Let's pray the psychic knows what she's talking about. We want Erin to have a job!
